The meaning of Locavore is a person whose diet consists only or principally of locally grown or produced food. Nowadays, the trend of farm to table restaurants has become a lifestyle some people have accustomed to, for a healthier outlook and sensibilities for an environmentally friendly impact on our surroundings.
Mikel Zaguirre, the brains behind Locavore, trained under a Michelin starred chef in a French restaurant and has combined his experience and techniques learned, with his love for Filipino food. You will find his approach to Filipino food flavourful, unapologetic, and refreshingly imaginative.
Place/Time:BGC branch. On a weeknight, for dinner. Tried our luck for a walk-in for a group of 6, waiting time was half an hour. Reservations for a table is recommended.
Ambiance:The restaurant interior and exterior is modern, transparent and has a relaxed vibe exuding in its casual metal chairs. The lighting is dim and the walls are dark, marketed for an intimate night out with friends.
Food:No funny business, we harpooned our way to the mains.

Stand out dish for me was Sizzling Sinigang. The Sizzling Sinigang, beef short ribs is very tender with an aftertaste of a grilling or charring technique. It is unforgettably delicious and should be re-ordered again and again.
Lechon and Oyster Sisig
Occasion:The restaurant caters to families, posse of yuppies, and any large groups who want to enjoy good Filipino food.
Service:Casual and laidback, maybe too laid back. Though servers refilled our water automatically (which I love). They did forget the fish, and was only taken out after we asked where it was.
Otherwise, the bill was correct, no mistakes in the charges. However please be mindful of the additional tax charges and service charges.
Pricing:For 6 people: 5 adults and 1 child. The bill came to about P3,000-P4,000 ($AU100 approximately).

My experience with Locavore BGC was a delectable night. I am thankful even though the lines were long and we were a group of 6, we got a table. Service was too casual for my liking, but the food proved the star of the night. I give this experience 4 Katrina hearts out of 5, 1 being short out of 5, for the service or lack there of. However, this will not refrain me from returning to their restaurant and re-ordering their Sizzling Sinigang over and o.ver and over again.
